The Nutcracker Review

CUISINE: American, European.
FOOD: The menu consists of a number of dishes which will compel you to step into the café. The food served here, from Black Bean Burgers to Caramel and Peanut Sandwiches, to Salli eggs to Philadelphia Cheese Cake is appetizing. The perfect substitute to a conventional breakfast is ‘breakfast in a bottle’ which is a blend of oats, milk, dates and nuts. The main course dishes you should go for are Cottage Cheese Burger and Chilled Noodle Salad which is a unique preparation. For dessert, the seven layer cookie with Belgian chocolate, butterscotch and almond, and the Salted Caramel and Banana Smoothie are a must have.
OVERALL: The restaurant has a matchless appearance and the food served is delicious. The café interior has been designed to give it a mid-century look. It’s a very attractive place to step i for all the hardcore foodies.

Awesome!

One of my go-to places when I think of meeting someone for breakfast - the Nutcracker has good, albeit slow service and yummy food.

We tried the Salli egg, the Strawberry Nutella pancake and their amazing hot chocolate.

We reached early and got a great spot but people who came in around 9:30 am ended up waiting quite a bit.

Make it in time and start the day with a great breakfast!

Small quaint place

Nutcracker is a nice small quaint place. The menu is limited but the food they served was quite impressive.

Menu offers a mixed variety covering healthy & sinful taste buds. The burgers and sandwiches are well made, but what really caught my eye was the Spaghetti with nuts.

The Passion Fruit Mint Cooler was super refreshing. Missed out on the highly recommended seven layered dessert.

Wonderful breakfast

Been here once for breakfast with my hubby and it is fabulous, both ambiance as well as food quality wise, even though a bit expensive. Mac n cheese, pancakes, paneer bhurji, hummus with pita, black bean burger, veg lasagna, everything is marvellous and we did not mind the price for the quality especially! Service is excellent too and they are always courteous, it is also located in one of the most beautiful places in Mumbai.

Cozy vibe

This cafe is small in size but has a very cozy vibe.A lovely place to go to if you are a vegetarian. Its a very nicely decorated restaurant from the outside and difficult to miss. To start of their Belgian Hot Chocolate is the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Next serve wheat and barley upma was new and well flavoured with a bit of a Mexican touch. The buttermilk pancakes were the best of the lost. Sweet, savoury, soft and fluffy.

Cool cafe setup

Another one of those tiny cafes in Fort, but a beautiful one,Tiny space very well decorated.Every dish that we tried was absolutely delicious,Mushrooms on toast, Pesto Panini and the Seven Layer Cookie are must try.Portion-wise, all the above dishes are sufficient for a meal for two.Food is a little over priced for the quantity but tastes really good. The main problem you would face is the long waiting.Overall a pretty cool place if you looking for healthy all day cafe type places.

Must try are there egg stuff. The overall place is designed adding the design to every minutest thing. A must visit if you like small cafe s. Perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast .

European style cafe for great breakfast

Went to the nutcracker today for breakfast and it was one of the breakfast European style breakfast I have had in Mumbai. For drinks, We ordered mint lemonade, cold coffee and Belgian hot chocolate. All were extremely but good but mint lemonade deserves a special mention as it was very fresh, minty and great start to the breakfast. For food, we ordered pancakes, barley upma and mushrooms on toast. Pancakes are the best in the city....fluffy, light and we're served with maple syrup and blueberry compote. Barley upma was cooked with exotic veggies and was yummy. Mushrooms were creamy and served on multigrain bread which fresh and well toasted. Although we were quite full but we're tempted to order an apple crumble and it was so yummy we could have finished one more. Warm apple crumble served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was outstanding. Loved the food and the decor. It truly deserves all the 5 stars in the rating...will be definitely going back and recommending to others.

Pretty little cafe

Kala Ghoda's latest cafe comforts you with its cosy decor and soul soothing food.

An elevated facade of wooden window frames mounted on corrugated tin as walls, spout bougainvillea flowers. This is your clue to spotting The Nutcracker in one of the lanes of Kala Ghoda otherwise studded with offices. The newly opened cafe has the look and feel of a little European cafe with interiors that mirror the same effect.

Three wooden stools hanging on the wall in a corner, a clipboard clock and other knick-knacks around the place give it a decidedly quaint vibe. While we look for clues for the inspiration behind the name, the owner Anaheeta (Annie) Bafna tells us that it has nothing to do with the famous musical.

36 year old Anaheeta worked as a chartered accountant before motherhood led her to a four year break. After the hiatus she came back with a plan for the cafe, her own recipes in tow. Right from Akuri Pav (Rs 130) served with a stack of Monaco biscuits to Breakfast In A Bottle (Rs 160) – a blend of oats, milk, dates and nuts, the menu oozes a homely charm. Scoop the akuri onto the biscuit and squeeze over some lime before popping it in your mouth. You can thank us later. A tall glass of Mint Lemonade (Rs 120) with a thick layer of freshly pureed mint is a fantastic drink throughout the year in Mumbai. The Breakfast Sliders (RS 190) – tiny burger buns with pesto, scrambled egg and caramelized onions were spot on in terms of the flavours. Though, they could be a little more generous with the portions which are a meagre two per plate right now.

The Classic Jalapeno Grilled Cheese Sandwich (RS 230) - with melted cheese in between large slices of breads was crisp, filling and felt a tad heavy for an early morning meal. Though, we’d totally recommend it if you’re stopping by for a late lunch. The sliders and sandwiches were served with a side of crisp potato wedges and American styled mustard. The Buttermilk Pancakes (Rs 210) and French Toast (Rs 220) arrived next. Served with melted butter, maple syrup and thick blueberry compote, the pancakes were fluffy and light. The French toast served with a dark cherry jam and caramelised nuts were decadent to say the least. The soft slices of bread felt loaded with the sweet eggy dip and the crisp outer skin made it a delicious breakfast choice.

We finished the last of the pancakes, gulped down the last of our Breakfast in a Bottle shake and moved on to the desserts. The Lemon Tart (Rs 80) which was picture perfect had a crisp pastry and creamy lemon curd with a smooth citrusy taste. The light and airy Baked Philadelphia Cheesecake (Rs 260) was served with a dollop of blueberry compote. But, it was the Warm Seven Layered Cookie (Rs 260) which put a Cheshire grin on our faces. The cookie had a buttery and crumbly biscuit base covered with Belgian dark chocolate, butterscotch, cream, almond flakes and was served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

At the very least The Nutcracker is the kind of place that could inspire you to have new ideas or chalk out incomplete ones. Perfect for a city teaming with creative folk, wouldn’t you agree?

Must Try: Buttermilk Pancakes, Breakfast In A Bottle, Mint Lemonade, Warm Seven Layer Cookie
Meal For Two: Rs 1000 + taxes

Oh so lovely

Went here for brunch and this teeny tiny place has so much to offer.

Things to try here:

Breakfast in a bottle
Butter Milk Pancakes
Akhuri Pav
Mint Lemonade

Service is very efficient and the owner itself helps you with suggestions

The decor and the ambience is so homely yet very intricately designed.

Not very heavy on your pockets, it'll cost you Rs 800-1000 for a meal for two

Loved the place so much that i became a free PR and told tales about it for two days to almost every one I met
